Repair Or Replace?
Essentially the same principle works in all these cases; only the details differ.
There is some damage to glass, and the technician first assesses the damaged glass to determine possible repairs. For instance, where the frame is intact but one of the glasses has cracked, new glass will be put in at once as soon as the glass frame is broken beyond repair.
In terms of shower doors, the hardware typically is repaired first. Only after hinges, rollers, or seals were fixed did people proceed to installing new panels. They are installed only if the glass is broken or they want to have frameless doors installed.
The same is true for commercial glass, except that here it is larger in scale. A new pane will be put in in case the frame is good, while replacing a whole storefront system will take place if the frame is bent or if the upgrading already takes place anyway.
Finally, windows will also be repaired or replaced, and the only difference will be the quality of the hardware or the seal in the beginning. If the frame is still intact, we inform our clients immediately without waiting to order the costly piece, giving them an opportunity to choose the complete repair approach once the frame condition is confirmed, guided by a knowledgeable technician with experience in this type of repair.

Salt air and constant humidity do more damage to glass and frames in Florida than any single storm. Coastal exposure corrodes hardware, breaks down seals, and clouds glass years before an inland home would show the same wear — it’s a slow problem, not a sudden one, and it’s why we see so many aging frames and failed seals on service calls.

Storms like Hurricane Ian in 2022 are the exception that gets attention, but the everyday cause of most glass and frame problems we fix is the climate itself.
